About AMEK Design + Build

Written from the sources above

AMEK Design + Build is a Bloomington design-build remodeler founded in 1996 by brothers Matt and Andrew Schmidt, joined by Paul Schmidt in 1998, working on whole-house, kitchen, bathroom, and lower-level remodels across the Twin Cities. In thirty years it says it has helped hundreds of families reimagine their homes.

Its award record is among the deepest in this directory: 46 dated awards between 2013 and 2025, including fifteen NARI Minnesota Contractor and Remodeler of the Year wins plus six regional and two national NARI awards, eleven Housing First Minnesota awards, four Best of Houzz honors, a 2019 Chrysalis Award, and a 2019 Qualified Remodeler Master Design Award.

The firm is a member of Housing First Minnesota, NARI, and the BBB, and showed in both the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 Remodelers Showcase. It declines to publish price figures, and states it backs all work with comprehensive warranties without giving term lengths.
