Kootenia Homes has built custom homes in the Twin Cities east metro since 1969 — more than five decades and hundreds of homes across Afton, Grant, Lake Elmo, North Oaks, Stillwater, and Woodbury. It is family-owned and led by David Frosch, who joined as a designer in 1983 and took over when the original owner retired, with his son Steven as VP of construction. The firm is a sister brand to Michael Lee Homes, which shares its ownership and phone number.
Its neighborhoods cluster in Woodbury — Cherry Meadow, Hartung Farm, Aster Landing, and Providence of Woodbury — plus Elliott Crossing and The Gateway in Grant and Old Wildwood Oaks in Mahtomedi. It also builds on client lots and takes on teardown-rebuilds.
Housing First Minnesota named it a Top 25 Home Builder for 2023 and selected its Woodbury model as a Dream Home in the Fall 2024 Parade. Its homes carry a 1-2-10 warranty covering materials and workmanship in the first year, with structural coverage beyond depending on contract.
