Hartman Homes builds luxury custom homes in the east Twin Cities metro, western Wisconsin, and Big Sky, Montana, from its headquarters in Hudson, Wisconsin. Michael Hartman founded it in 1985 in Alma, Wisconsin as Hartman Construction; the firm relocated to the St. Croix Valley in 1989, incorporated under its current name in 1993, and entered land development in 1994.
Its Parade of Homes entries have won nine Reggie Awards of Excellence — two each in 2020 and 2021, and one each in 2018, 2014, 2011, 2009, and 2004. St. Croix Valley Magazine named it Builder of the Year three years running (2022–2024), NAHB made it a Custom Home Builder of the Year runner-up in 2020 on an Andersen Windows nomination, and Midwest Home has recognized six of its projects since 2021, including Best Overall Home.
The eleven-person firm builds in its own neighborhoods including The Royal Club, Hidden Waters, The Oaks of St. Croix, Orchards of St. Croix, PineCliff, Troy Burne Village, White Eagle, and Woods of Medina.
