Lake Country Builders is a second-generation family design-build remodeler and custom builder in Excelsior, founded in 1976 by Pete and Sue Jacobson and now led by their son Patrick. Across nearly five decades it has grown from a two-person team to roughly fifteen staff, adding a customer-care maintenance division in 2001, a Brainerd Lakes office in 2002, a northwestern Wisconsin operation in 2005, and an aging-in-place service in 2012.
Housing First Minnesota named it Remodeler of the Year in 2020, the same year it took a ROMA for outdoor living; a 2025 ROMA followed for a kitchen in the $75,000–$125,000 range. It also won Blend Awards for design and construction in 2017 and 2018, and holds MN GreenStar certifications at bronze, silver, and gold levels from 2007 to 2011. Professional Builder named Patrick Jacobson to its 40 Under 40 list in 2015.
