Plekkenpol Builders has been a full-service design-build residential remodeler in Bloomington since Craig Plekkenpol founded it in 1970, growing from a one-person operation to roughly 22 staff — project managers, production supervisors, carpenters, a draftsperson, and trade specialists — working across the Twin Cities on kitchens, baths, additions, owners' suites, and lower levels.
The founder has been unusually active in the trade: a past president of Housing First Minnesota, an NAHB Life Director serving on its board, and the subject of a 2015 Robert L. Hanson lifetime achievement award. The City of Bloomington proclaimed a "Craig Plekkenpol Day" in February 2016, and the Richfield Chamber of Commerce named the firm its 2025 Business of the Year.
The company has been a NARI member since 1999 and also belongs to NKBA, ASID, and two chambers, with an A+ BBB accreditation. Its homes have appeared in both the spring and fall Remodelers Showcase every year from 2021 through 2026.
