Black Dog Homes is a family-operated design-build firm in Wayzata, founded in 2006 by Dan Vanderheyden as Black Dog Remodeling, focused on whole-house renovations, additions, and custom homes around Lake Minnetonka and the western suburbs. The firm has specialized in home additions for over fifteen years, and a significant share of its renovation work includes one.
Its Wayzata projects have been named Parade of Homes Dream Homes twice — a Cottage Tudor in 2022 and a Modern Tudor in 2021 — after a Modern Farmhouse renovation of a 100-year-old Wayzata home was a Fall 2018 Remodelers Showcase Dream Home. NARI Minnesota gave it a Contractor of the Year award in the Addition Over category in 2022.
